Role Details:
As a Pulp Mill Operator based at our Visy Tumut pulp & paper mill, you are responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operation and monitoring of plant and equipment within the Pulp Mill.
- Work across various manufacturing processes including Digester & Fibreline, Re-causticizing, Lime Kiln, Chemical Recovery & Evaporation, Power Generation & Steam Distribution and other Utilities systems within a closed-loop, integrated pulp and paper mill.
- Remotely control these processes (startup, operate and shut down) through a Digital Control System (DCS) from the pulp mill control room.
- Conduct inspections, checks, routine tasks, process sample collections and manual control changes physically in the field.
- Analyze, identify, record and correct or manage process performance & efficiency.
- Identify and report maintenance requirements.
- Isolate and de-isolate plants and equipment for maintenance requirements.
- Work with mill maintenance, technical and other operational teams to achieve overall mill production and continuous improvement targets.
What You Will Bring:
- Tertiary qualification within any of the following areas as a minimum; Certificate III, Diploma or Bachelors in Pulp & Paper Operations or Technology; Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Solid prior experience (minimum 5 years) in a Pulp Mill, Refinery or similar complex high risk manufacturing environment.
- Holding a Boiler and/or Turbine high risk work license (ticket) is highly advantageous.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can demonstrate your aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex production process and equipment issues under pressure.
- You have a safety-first mindset and always comply with OHS&E policies and procedures.
- Attitude & Aptitude to Learn and complete training modules.
- Teamwork, clear communication & attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physical readiness to work on your feet, climb stairs and use PPE in hot/noisy areas.
- Reliability on a 24/7 rotating roster (days/nights/weekends/public holidays).
